Paragraph on Air Pollution

Air pollution refers to the mixture of solid particles, chemicals, or biological materials and gases in the air that causes harm to the environment. It badly affects all other elements of the environment. Now-a-days, it is emerging as a risk factor for stroke, respiratory infections, heart disease and lung cancer. There are various reasons behind air pollution. Smokes from different sources are the major causes of the problem. Gases like sulfur-die-oxides, Nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from different sources are also responsible for it. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “Vehicular emission is the main cause of air pollution in Dhaka Metropolitan City, Bangladesh”. The rejected, old, petrol-driven two stroke baby taxies, tempos, mini-trucks, buses trucks and motorcycles are major polluters of the city. Besides, various mills and factories around the city, 1,000 brick kilns, dust from roads and construction sites are other main causes of air pollution in the city. In fact air pollution in Dhaka has gone higher than Mexico City and Mumbai. The bad effects of this huge pollution is dreadful, According to the National Institute of Diseases of Chest and Hospital (NIDCH), nearly seven million people in Bangladesh suffer from asthma due to air pollution. Health experts say that, "If pregnant mothers come across excessive air pollution, it may cause premature death of their children,". The WHO states that 2.4 million people die each year in the world due to excessive air pollution. So we must have to stop polluting air anyhow. It is high time to take proper steps against those persons or institutions are responsible for much air pollution. The electronic and print media has to play a role to make people conscious about this. An all out effort is needed to solve the problem.
