Visit to a Place of Historical Interest

Every human being possesses a tendency to see unseen, to know the unknown and to experience the inexperienced. As a student, I have keen interest to visit an unknown place. If the place is historically important, the visit becomes more attractive. Few months ago, I had an opportunity to visit Khan Jahan Ali's “Majar” in Bagerhat. The ‘Majar’ and the structures adjacent to it, all are excellent. The majar stands on a raised ground. The special tomb made of peculiar type of cut out stones. There is an epitaph on the tomb, in which his death date is inscribed. There is a beautiful mosque near the Majar. The thing which fascinated me most was the lake like tank in front of the Majar. The tank is famous for some big crocodiles and tortoise. People believe that, if anybody can satisfy these crocodiles, his/her desire will be fulfilled. The "khadem” who looks after the crocodiles told us about a strange but true matter. Whenever the Pir called those crocodiles, they used to appear before him at once. At last, I enjoyed the beauty of Shat Gambuj Mosque. It is one of the best architectural beauties of the country. I was really marvelled at the beauty of the mosque. Still, the memory of visiting the place haunts my mind. My wish is to visit the place once again in my life.
