My Childhood Memories (For Girls)

Childhood is the most memorable and sweetest episode of our life. The pleasant memories of my childhood often haunt me. Whenever I become sick of the present, I visualize the happy moment of my childhood; closing my eyes. At this, my heart leaps up with joy. In fact, past is always golden to us.

It is not possible for us to recall all the events of our state of infancy. We can remember only some important events that are stored in our sub-conscious mind. These events sometimes peep through our mind's eye. Thus we go back to our care free and independent childhood.

I was born in a small village in the Bikrampur district, My father was a busy businessman. He was a sober person and my mother was very affections ate. The house where I was brought up was named as 'Jannat Villa'. I was the only child of my parents. They loved me more than their own life.

Another person whom I loved most was my grandmother. I did not see my grandfather. He died before my birth. But I can still recall grandmother's face. She used to fondle me very much and chant sweet rhymes. I have heard many interesting stories from her. She was a little educated but knew a lot of things.

I can not forget the long yard and the flower garden in front of our house. I had a great attraction for the garden. My grandmother used to take care of it. While she used to water the garden, I used to help her with my unskilled hand. There were different kinds of flowers in the garden. Among them, I liked the red rose and gardenia most. I loved the flowers very much and I used to guard them so that nobody can pluck any flower from our garden. All these are past now.

My first day at school is an evocative event of my life. I was a shy girl of six at that time. My mother took me to the school. I put on a new dress. I was taken to the headmistress room. I got frightened to see her serious face. But later, her smiling and sweet words put me at ease. I got a good marks in the admission test. Nevertheless, my mother was worried about my admission as the competitors were numerous. However, I was admitted into class one. My class mates received me warmly and my fears were dispelled.

A happening at my school often made me laugh. It was my first exam at school. I was told repeatedly at home to write according to what was written on the question paper. Taking the question paper, I just re-wrote the entire question in my answer script.

My only playmate was Neela, my cousin. She was three month younger than me. We had our own collection of dolls. We used to give in marriage them. My grandmother used to make dolls for us.

Going to my maternal uncle's house was a much awaited matter for me. It was the most interesting event for me. My mother always used to take me with her. It, would take two hours to go there by train. The journey was very much enjoyable for me.

I have a very bitter experience in my childhood along with all these happy events. It is the death of my grandmother. It was she who always used to teach me various aspects of life. I was so grieved at her death that can not be described in words. Still I have tears in my eyes remembering her. I will never forget the event.

It goes without saying that childhood is the most enjoyable part of human life. It is free from all sorts of worries and the stern reality of life. I wish I could go back to those days once again!
