A Rickshaw puller is a person who earns his livelihood by pulling rickshaw. He is a familiar figure in our cities and towns. He plays an important role to lead our everyday life. We need Rickshaw to move to a short distance. To speak the truth, rickshaw is the most comfortable transport to the urban-life. A rickshaw puller leads a very simple life in our country. He lives below the poverty line. Usually he along with his family lives in a slum. Wearing a shabby dress, he goes out with his rickshaw in the morning and comes back in the evening. In most cases, he has no rickshaw of his own. He is to hire a rickshaw in exchange for a fixed amount per day. The whole day he works hard both in foul and fair weather. Sometimes he bargains with passengers. He demands more money when the weather is foul, rainy or very sunny. At times, he is seen to take rest on his rickshaw. While taking rest, nobody can make him to go anywhere. Passengers often behave roughly with him for not going to their destination. But he doesn't care about it. Sometimes he engages himself in fighting with another rickshaw puller regarding overtaking. A rickshaw puller takes his meal from the road side cheap hotels. Sometimes he becomes sick and can not go out for work. As a result, his family is to go without food. Their children are deprived of education and other basic human rights. To speak in short, he lives from hand to mouth. But he is satisfied with his little earning. When he earns more than his expectation, his face beams with smile, but it occurs rare in his sorrowful life.
