Journey is an excellent form of entertainment and gaining knowledge. Any kind of journey is pleasant to all. But a journey by launch is more enjoyable that others. Because usually we do not travel by it. I always prefer to a journey by launch.
A few days ago, I enjoyed a journey by launch. One of my close friends, requested me to attend the marriage ceremony of his sister. He also invited some of our friends. Firstly, I was not agree to my friends to there. But when I heard that we would go there by launch, I decided to go there at once. Prior to that, I had such a journey long three years ago. So, it was a long awaited journey for me.
We were five in number. Our destination was Munsigonj on the fixed date, we reached Sadarghat Launch Terminal at 7 a.m. After taking our breakfast of a restaurant, we got on the launch together. Previous day, we bought five tickets. The name of the launch was ‘Surovi-7. It was nicely decorated as it was a new one. We took our seats. Luckily my seat was beside the window.
After a few minutes, the launch started its journey. The rhythmic jerks of the launch is very thrilling to me. I could feel a creeping along the limbs of my body. I looked out through the window and saw a large number of small and big boats plying on the river. It was a sweet sunny morning. The both sides of the river was busy and crowdy though it was still morning. My friends were listening music from their mobile through headphone.
After half an hour, our launch entered into Padma. There was strong current on the river but the river was sober. There was a gentle breeze. I was enjoying the softness of the Padma. I like nature very much. I belive that, it is nature which can make our mind cheerful. I became very much fascinated seeing the unique beauty of Padma. The fishermen were catching fishes here and there. Everything was charming.
The launch was running through a channel close to a bank of the river. Hence I could enjoy the rural sceneries. Little boys and girls were swimming at large. Women were returning home with jars filled with water. The huge common reeds on the bank of the river made me enchanted. I took several photos of this scenery with my camera. At times it appeared to me that the launch was stationary and the houses and trees on the bank were moving to the opposite direction. Somewhere I saw the green paddy fields. Peasants were working there. Some men were cutting jute plants. Some of them were singing and some of them were smoking sitting on the ground. My mind was entirely absorbed in all these.
Suddenly my attraction broke down by the whistle of the launch. My friends were drowsing. They also got their consciousness at once. We reached our destination at 2 p.m. Our friend Sazzad was waiting there for us. He became very pleased to see us. His house was not very far from the launch ghat. Thus our journey came to an end.
I had enjoyed the journey very much. Whenever I think over it, my heart leaps up with joy. It is an evocative event of my life. It will be ever imprinted in my mind.
