The Tale of the Two Friends

Once upon a time there lived two friends in a village. They were very fond of travelling. They liked to see the green trees, blue seas and to hear the songs of bird.

One day they went to a deep forest to enjoy the endless beauty of nature. They were walking along the path of the forest and enjoying the unique sceneries of nature. After a while, they noticed that they had lost their way. They knew it that the forest was the abode of various ferocious wild animals. At every step, there was danger. They promised to each other that they would never leave each other in the time of any danger. However, they were walking through the jungle and searching their way. Suddenly a terrible incident happened. They saw a big bear coming towards them. They got frightened. One of these two friends knew how to climb on a tree. So as soon as he saw the bear, he climbed up a tree alone. He said to the other friend that "As you don't know how to climb, you had better ran away." How selfish he was! The other friend became very disappointed hearing this. He was thinking about the way to get rid of it. He remembered that a bear never touch a dead body. He decided to use this idea. He would fall flat on the ground like a dead person. Finding no other way, he did according to his ready wit. He fell flat to the ground and the bear was coming towards him slowly. When he guessed that the bear was just beside him, he stopped breathing. The bear smelt the body of the lying friend and thought him to be a dead body. So the bear did not touch him and went away waddling. The other friend who climbed up the tree was seeing everything sitting on the branch of the tree. When the bear went away, he got down from the tree. He came to his friend and asked him very eagerly, "Dear friend, what did the bear whisper into your ear?" In reply the friend said, "It advised me not to trust a friend who leaves his friend at the time of danger."So we all should be very careful from such a false friend who does not help us in our distress.
