My Native Village

Bangladesh is a country of villages. About eighty percent of our total population live in village. I have born in a village too. The name of my native village is Khalilpur. It is situated in the district of Comilla. To me, it is the sweetest place of the planet.

Our village is fifteen kilometers away from the district headquarter. Its land area is about 4 square kilometers. It stands on the river Gomati. The river is very nice to look at. I along with my friends used to swim in it. Our village is full of greenery.

Nearly 3000 people live in our village. Most of them are Muslims. There are some Hindu families also live in our village. We all live in peace here together. The villagers are simple, amiable and peace loving. Most of them are lower middle class. The villagers are helpful to each other in distress. Agriculture is the main occupation of the villagers. About 55% of the villagers are directly or indirectly  related to agriculture. There are some carpenters and fishermen in our village. The rest are traders, service holder, teachers, small businessmen and doctors. Whatever may be the profession, every body loves the village equally and try to do something for the betterment of the village.

There are sufficient educational, religious and other institutions in our village. There are a high school a government primary school, a registered primary school and a Hafizia Madrasa in our village. There are a mosque and an old temple in the village. Besides, we have a post office and a market in the centre of the village. From the market the villagers get all their daily commodities.

The communication system of our village by road or by river is not bad. There is a semi pucca road which connects our village with the other villages. It is well-communicated with the district. Villagers use boats to go and come across the river as there is no bridge over it.

The natural scenery of our village is really fascinating. The most charming sight of our village is the common reeds on the bank of the river. When the sun sets with all its splendid beauty, our village appears like a printed landscape. She wears different appearances in different seasons. To speak in short, the beauty of our village is impressive.

The climate of our village is comfortable and healthy. We have no want of pure drinking water. The villagers are conscious about proper sanitation. Fish, milk, meat vegetables are available in our daily market and these are sold cheap. Fresh vegetables grow in plenty here. Hence, the health of our villagers is very good.

Our village does not have electricity and other modern facilities. People use 'lamp' and 'Hurricane' at night. The villagers use firewood to cook food. Nevertheless, the villagers are happy and they are satisfied with what they have.

Our Khalilpur is well known for its various cultural activities. On different occasions, our villagers arrange Jatragan, Jarigan, Kabigan, Palagan etc. Bullock race is the most famous and attractive event of village.

I love my village profoundly. I believe that village is the most peaceful place to live in. I have learnt so many things from my native village. I feel very proud to be child of the village.

My Daily Life

Everyone has his own way of spending daily life. It depends upon our profession. As I am student, my daily life is simple and common. I have prepared a daily routine that controls my daily life.

I always wake up at 5:00 early in the morning. I start my day with my morning prayer.I spend half an hour for brushing, washing and bathing. I eat breakfast prepared by my mom. I go outside with my neighbours on morning walk for half an hour. Then I read the last chapters that teachers have taught me as revision. I read for around two hours in morning time. I also practice math’s problem and science numerical exercises. At ten o clock I go to school.

I along with all my friends, elders and juniors make up an assembly where we sing National anthem and pray our school prayer. Our class begins at ten. We have eight periods in total to study different subjects. My first period commences with social studies. After the fourth period, we have a twenty minutes break. The school ends at four. No sooner the school finishes, I head to my home tired.

I clean my hands and limbs to get ready for some light foods. Then I play indoor games with my little brother. We generally play for an hour. After that I start doing my home works. I always have my dinner at around 8:00pm. Then I take a rest for half an hour. During this time, I glance over some TV channels. Then I complete the remaining home works. If it’s over already, I read novels or stories before going to bed. I go to bed at 11:00 p.m every day.

During the holidays I do not go to school. I study at home and make up my weakness in any subject. During these days, I read newspapers, magazines, and stories. I go out in parks with my friends sometimes. When the holidays are longer, I go to my relative’s home with my parents for some days. Sometimes, I go on picnics with my friends. During this period, I change my daily routine of life.

Sometimes my friends and well-wishers feel that I am really becoming a machine. But I strictly believe that if we do everything on time, success will kiss us and we will be able to lead a shining life.
