Shirin    :   Hello, Runa. How are you?

Runa     :   I am fine, what about you?

Shirin    :   I am well, but confused about a matter.

Runa     :   Confused? About what?

Runa    :   My elder brother has suggested me to read newspaper daily. Do you think that it is important and beneficial to us?

Shirin    :   Of course. Don’t you know the importance of reading newspaper?

Runa    :   To speak the truth, I am in the dark about it.

Shirin    :   Newspaper is the mirror of our society, country even the world.

Runa    :   Is it? How it benefits us?

Shirin    :   Newspaper keeps us update with the newer information about various things. This information increases our general knowledge. By the bounty of it, we are able to know the daily affairs of home and abroad, important events, education, literature, entertainments and what not?

Runa    :   Do you read newspaper regularly?

Shirin    :   Of course. It is one of my daily habits. You should read it daily too.

Runa    :  But there are so many Bengali and English dailies in our country. Which should I read?

Shirin   :   I read daily Prothom Alo and Daily Star everyday. You can also read those two.

Runa    :   I have made up my mind. From tomorrow, I will start reading newspaper. Thank you very much for your wise advice.

Person            :   I already have Shakespeare and Milton in my collection. I want the book of the other poets.

Book Seller   :   Ok. Here are the books.

Person           :   Tell me the price of the rest books.

Book Seller    :   Four hundred and sixty.

Person            :   Here is the money.

Sathi     :   Hi Setu! How are you?

Setu      :   Very fine. And what about you?

Sathi     :   I am too feeling good after a long exam.

Setu      :   Right you are. Now we have a long recess.

sathi    :   Well, Setu, can’t we arrange a picnic now?

Sathi     :   Oh! The great idea! We have not had a picnic for long time.

Julee     :   In that case, you have to practise writing more and more. Slowly your writing will be faster.

Jui         :   I have another problem. I am always afraid of examination. How can I overcome it?

Julee     :   Your weakness is only in writing. Do as I have said to you and keep confidence within yourself. I hope you will be successful.

Jui       :   Anything else?

Julee    :   Never cram anything. It is harmful.

 Saju      :   Hello, Popi. How are you?

Popi      :   I am quite well. And what about you?

Saju      :   What does it say?

Popi      :   It is about the importance of learning English.

Saju      :   English is truly essential in our life. Isn't it?

Popi      :   Of course. To speak the truth, it is needed in every sphere of life.

Saju     :   I also think so.

Popi      :   English is present in school, college and higher education, in our professional life and even in our practical life.

Saju      :   So, we can say that English has become an important part of our life.

Saju      :   As far as I know, the skill in this subject plays a good role to get a better job.

Dialogue between two friends about a particular Road Accident

 Mother :   My dear girl, what are you doing?

Moon   :   I am trying to concentrate on my study. But......

Mother :   Your face has turned into pale. Why my dear?

Moon   :   I am deeply shocked at the tragic event of 13^th August. Haven’t you heard about it?

Mother :   No. What is that event for which you are so grieved?

Moon   :   Eminent Film-maker of our country Tareq Masud and media personality Ashfaq Munir have died by a dreadful read accident.

Mother :   Oh God! Where? How?

Moon   :   They were returning home from a shooting spot after completing their work. On their way, a bus which was recklessly running pushed the microbus which was carrying them. Both of them were spot-dead.

Mother :  Oh God ! What a pity!

Moon  :   I have watched some of the movies of Tareq Masud. They are unique. Some of his movies and documentary films are praised universally.

Mother :   Yes. I know that. We have lost two valuable persons of the country.

Moon    :   Unless our government pay heed to the problem immediately, the country will be losing such intelligent.

Mother :   Right you are. Everyday almost ten people die in our country due to road accidents.

Moon  :   The government should take strong measures as early as possible.

Mother :   Absolutely. Now my baby, take rest for a while and come for breakfast.

Moon    :   Ok mom.

Mini      :   Hi, Rini. How are you?

Rini       :   Hi, I am fine. Are you?

Mini      :   I am fine too. Look at my hands.

Rini       :   What are these?

Mini      :   I have bought some plants of Rain tree.

Rini       :   Are you interested in tree plantation?

Mini      :   Of Course. Don't you know the importance of tree plantation?

Rini      :   In fact I have read in my textbook regarding this but I haven't planted any tree till now.

Mini      :   Then I think your learning is incomplete. Everybody should be interested in planting trees. Because, it is the best way to protect our environment from pollution.

Rini       :   What are the other benefits of it?

Mini      :   Trees keep our atmosphere cool and save us from various natural calamities like flood drought, tidal waves etc.? Besides, tree plantation enhances our natural beauty. 

Rini       :   I know that, trees give us life-saving oxygen and I like trees. But I don’t know how and when trees are to plant. 

Mini      :   This is the rainy season. It is the best season for tree plantation. You can plant trees in a suitable open place in your house.

Rini       :  I have made up my mind. From now on, I will join in the campaign of tree plantation.

Mini    :   I am pleased to hear this from you.

Rini      :   Thank you very much. You have inspired me to plant trees.

Lima     :   Hello, Sumi. How are you?

Sumi     :   I am fine. What about you?

Lima     :   I am not in a good mood.

Lima     :   I am worried about my weakness in English. I have got very poor marks in English in the first term exam.

Sumi     :   Don't be upset. You know that I myself was weak in English too.

Lima     :   Can you suggest me how I can be skilled at this subject?

Sumi    :   Of course. Firstly, you have to learn all the basic rules of grammar. It will help you to write correctly in the answer script.

 Lima   :   English Grammar is not very hard to me. In fact I don't know sufficient words. Hence I fail to make sentence properly.

Sumi    :   If you understand grammatical rules appropriately, then your problem is not much bigger.  You just need to increase your vocabulary. Beside this, you can form a group or join in any English language club. To achieve fluency in speaking,

Lima     :   I feel shy because often I do not understand others. 

Sumi     :   To increase your listening skill, you can listen to the BBC or VOA news.

Lima     :   Often I can not concentrate on all these.

Sumi     :   But why?

Lima     :   I don’t feel easy to learn English. It seems to me very tough.

Sumi     :   Try to love this language. Your learning will be easy.

Rumi    :   Hi, Saba. How are you?

Saba     :   Fine. are you?

Rumi    :   I am also very fine. In fact, after the exam, I have heaved a sigh of relief.

Saba     :   Absolutely. After many days now we have got a long recess. Isn't it?

Rumi   :  Right you are. What is your plan in the vacation?

Saba     :   My plan is very simple but enjoyable. I shall visit my native village with my family. There I will arrange picnic with my cousins. There will be a lot of fun.

Rumi    :   Are these all?

Saba     :   No. you know that the “Pahela Baishakh is coming soon. There will be a big fair in our native village. I hope the days will be fine.

Soma    :   Hello, Mou, how are you?

Mou      :   I am well. What about you?
