| Self Reliance of Shamima |
Self Reliance refers to the dependence on one's own efforts and abilities. It consists of strong willpower and determination which lead a person to success. Self reliance is assessed as a great virtue. By dint of this virtue, a common people can be turned into a legendary one. Shamima Akhter is a self reliant woman of an ordinary Bangladeshi village. She has seen the most cruel aspect of life. But the cruelty could not defeat her determination. Shamima’s father married her off when she was just fifteen. The marriage did not last long as her husband often used to abuse her verbally and physically. Shamima wanted to be self reliant and hence she chose the path of struggle. She took a successful training on designing fabrics. She started a life of her own though it was very hard. Within a few years, Shamima became able to establish a boutique shop. Apart from designing and embroidering, she started making three-piece and fatuas. Now, 43 women work in her boutique house. Shamima’s dream has been fulfilled. Now her desire is to bring a smile on the faces of ill-fated women like herself.
