Before the invention of paper, knowledge was very limited. There were very few books in the world. For long in history, people transferred ideas through speaking and listening. Then there came the art of writing. But to record thoughts in writing was still very difficult. Because, writing materials were not available at that time. People used surface of stone, metal, wood, bark, leaves, etc. for writing their thinking and ideas. Those things were not easy to preserve and move from one place to another. For ages, people looked for easy writing materials. Finally, Paper was invented in China in 105 AD. It had added a new dimension in the world’s civilization. Since those early years, paper has been used across the world for hundreds years. Recently we have modern technology to store knowledge. Now, we can easily carry the entire world of knowledge in digital form. But the usefulness of paper is essential. The modern civilization can not be imagined without it. Paper is essential almost in every sphere of our life. Paper is still widely used in preserving records and documents, education, trade and commerce, and in many other places. To speak the truth, the human civilization owe to paper.
