Long ago there was a king in a country named Midas. He was greedy and extremely fond of gold. He loved gold more than his own life and collected them anyhow. He thought that if he had the golden touch, he would be the happiest man in the world. The desire of having more and more gold afflicted him all the time.
One day, the king was thinking about his desire sitting in his garden. A goddess knew about the king's wishful mind. He wanted to teach the king a good lesson. The goddess granted king's wish. After a while, a nice ripe apple fell beside the king. The king desired to taste the apple. But when he touched it to pick up, at the very time it turned into gold. He could hardly believe his eyes. He touched his chair and at once it became gold’s chair. He shouted with joy.
"At last, I have got the magical power of the golden touch. I am the happiest man of the world." He became very much delighted. He made all the trees of his garden into gold. Then he rushed to his palace. He touched his throne and within the twinkle of an eye, it turned into a golden throne. He ascended on it with a very happy mood. At that time his little loving daughter ran to him to sit on his lap. No sooner had the king touched his child than she turned into gold. The king got scared at this. His delightful face turned into pale. The king realized that his unlimited greed has taken away his dear daughter from him. He repented for his greed and cried out in anguish. Then the goddess, who was examining the king, gave back his little daughter to the king.
Greed is always harmful to us. It is one of the six enemies. It brings nothing except destruction. Hence, it is called, "Grasp all, lose all."
