Devotion to Mother Story

Obedience to Mother/Devotion to Mother/Baized Bostami

Once upon a time, there was a village named Bostum. Baized Bostami and his widow mother lived in the village. We all know the name of Baized Bostami. He was a great saint. He is well-known to all of us for his endless devotion to his mother. From his boyhood he was obedient to his mother.

One night, Bostami was studying in his room. It was dead at night. The surrounding atmosphere had the pin-drop silence. His ill mother was sleeping nearby. After a while, his mother wanted to drink water. He at once took a glass and went to the Jar lying in the corner of their house. But alas! There was not a drop of water in the jar. Finding no other way, he decided to collect water from the shower at the end of the village. It was a dark night and nobody was there to accompany with him. But he went out for collecting water from the shower. It was almost two kilometers away from their house. Reaching the place, he filled a jar with water and returned home safely. Then he poured water into a glass and went near his mother. But he found her sleeping. He did not wake her up as she was ill. He thought that his mother might wake up anytime. So, he stood still beside his mother's bed with the glass of water in his hand. The whole night! At dawn, his mother woke up and saw her son standing beside her bed. She remembered what happened last night. His mother said to his son, "O my boy, why didn't you wake up me?" Baized replied, "I thought, it would be impolite to wake up my sleeping mother." His loving mother embraced her son and blessed him to be a pious man. Almighty Allah has granted her prayer and made Baized one of the greatest devotees.

To speak the truth, the blessings of a mother never go in vain. All the great men of the world were obedient to their mother and blessed by their mother. So, if we want to be great, we should be obedient to mother like Bostami.
