Now-a-days, street accidents have become the burning issue of the time in Bangladesh. We are now accustomed to hearing the news of numerous deaths in accidents. There are multiple reasons behind so many mishaps on our roads. It is a matter of regret that most of the roads in our country are narrow. Often there are frequent and dangerous turns at short intervals. Some roads are dreadfully uneven. Our passersby are also not conscious enough when walking on the roads. Reckless driving is also a notable reason for street accidents. A large portion of our drivers are not skilled and sometimes they are not willing to follow traffic rules and signs. Some of them do not even have driving licenses! Statistics say that about 55% of our truck drivers are addicted to different types of intoxication. This is horrific news for us. As a result about 4000 people of our country dies every year in accidents. The number of injured people is uncountable. The situation is becoming worse day by day. The death of prominent movie maker "Tareq Masud" and the best media personality “Mishuk Munir" still afflicts our minds. By hook or by crook, we have to stop this, premature death. The Govt. must have to think over this as urgent. The number of roads and the manpower of traffic department should be increased immediately. The defective vehicles should be banned strictly. The Govt. can train old and new drivers. Common people's awareness is a must too. All these steps, if properly taken, the number of road accidents in our country, can be reduced.
