Discipline

Man is social being. He has to live with others in society. In society, he can not do whatever he likes. He has to obey some particular rules and regulations. To obey these rules and regulation is usually called discipline. 

The word "discipline" has come from a Latin word "dicipulus" which means a disciple. A disciple obeys the orders of his master without any question. So discipline is the obedience to the system of our individual, social, national and international life.

Discipline is essential in every sphere of life. From the heaven to earth, all things go on with discipline. It helps us to live in society with peace and happiness. Without discipline, a student can not learn well, a soldier can not fight in the war and a player can not play well. Without discipline, it is not possible for a society or country to keep well. Even the whole world has to go with discipline. 

In student life, discipline is a must. In fact, it is the best time to build the habit of discipline. Students must obey their teachers and abide by the rules of the educational institutions. Besides, students should be regular in their study. Otherwise, they will not be able to cut a good figure in the exam. So discipline plays a vital role in student life. 

Discipline is a law of nature. If we look at the elements of the nature, we will see that discipline is present everywhere. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west everyday. According to the rule of nature, the sun shines by day and the moon peeps at night. It is hot in summer and cold in winter. All these are the sign of discipline. 

Discipline can make us happy in our family life. Family is the smallest social institution. If all the family members obey the head of the family, then the family becomes peaceful and chaos free. In an indiscipline family, there always remains quarrel, chaos, mental conflicts etc.

In army, discipline is gravely required. Difficulty, danger even death can not prevent a soldier from carrying the order of his commander. If the chain of command is broken anyway, the result is dreadful. Recently, we have witnessed the horrible effect of indiscipline in BDR. So it is easy to realize the necessity of discipline in army and other law enforcing unit.

In the playground, a player has to maintain the rules of games and sports. Every player of a team is compelled to act on the orders of the team leader. A disciplined team always wins the game. 

Even the lower animals are well-disciplined. The life of the bees is much disciplined. All the bees obey the queen bees. Ants are also disciplined. They lead their life in a disciplined way.

Discipline is the root of all other virtues. No man or nation can prosper without it. It is essential from the playground to the battlefield. So we all should be disciplined at every step of our life.
