Introduction: Students are the driving force of a nation. They have some duties to their family, society, nation and to their own. To build up a nation, students must perform these duties properly. Students can change the lot of a nation by their strong determination. Hence, it is essential for a student to know about his duties and responsibilities.
The first and foremost duty: The first and foremost duty of a student is to study. He has to fix an aim for his life and should go ahead to reach his desired goal. He has to make the proper use of time as time is the most valuable asset specially in student life. He should not waste his time in idle gossiping. Loitering here and there or doing unnecessary things. He should always remember that-
"An idle brain is a devil's workshop".
Other duties: Besides education, a student has to do many other things. These are described below in detail:
i) Duties of family: A Student should obey his parents and all other seniors. He can contribute to his family affairs. After completing his home task, he can give a hand to his family matters. At times, he may help his parents to do any type of household chores. Besides, he can help his younger brother to teach their lesson properly.
ii) Removing illiteracy: Illiteracy is a curse to our country. Students can play a vital role in removing illiteracy. It is a gigantic task. It is not possible for the government to solve this problem alone. In fact, our country will be entirely free from illiteracy if every single student can literate at least two illiterate person.
iii) To the field of national help: Students should give a hand to the nation in distress. They should join in BNCC, Rover Scout and other volunteer organizations. In an event of natural calamity like floods and tidal waves students can collect funds for the poor and helpless. In winter, they can collect warm cloths from solvent and rich people. After all, students should come first in any type of worse situation of the nation.
vi) To make people conscious: Students can contribute to spread awareness among the common people. Our society is beset with many social problems like dowry, early marriage, eve-teasing etc. Students can fight against these dissimilarities of the society.
v) About the bad effect of over population: Population problem is the biggest problem of our country. Energetic and enthusiastic students can play an important role to make the people conscious about the brutal side of over-population.
vi) About the scientific methods of cultivation: Though ours is an agriculture based country, our farmers should know about the scientific cultivation. In some parts of the country, they are still following the old ways of cultivation. Students should convince them about using the latest scientific methods of cultivation.
vii) To protest corruption and violence: Bangladesh is a developing country and its economic structure is poor. By hook or by crook we have to stop corruption immediately. Students should come forward against all types of corruption and violence.
Conclusion: Students are the future leaders of a country. They can establish a happy and prosperous country by performing their duties and responsibilities properly. They should be honest, persevering, well-mannered, punctual and strong determined to dedicate their life for the sake of the country. Thus they will be able to make themselves good citizens which is the precondition of an ideal state.
