It was a long Eid vacation. I went to my native village with my cousins. As we had no presser of study there, we were doing whatever we liked to do.
One day we decided to go on a journey by boat on the nearer river. We also decided not to tell about that to anyone. We planned to enjoy an afternoon tea party on the river. We arranged everything easily including a nice boat. There were two boat-men who instructed us to sit properly on both the sides of the boat.
We were gossiping and singing chorus. The sky became a little cloudy. But we didn’t take that seriously. We finished our tea party just before sunset. The mishap took place while we were returning. Our boat was against the current. Naturally the boatmen had to work hard at the oars. They warned us telling that a storm is coming from the north. As the currents of the river were not in favour, the speed of the boat was not fast so it took much time and soon we saw that the sun had already set.
We were in the middle of the river. It was dark. The water rose high and it dashed against the boat. The boatmen worked harder and harder. They told us not to be afraid and stay calm. It seemed to me that our life is being slipped from our hands. We started praying to God. Soon the boatmen cried, the bank!' the bank!" We took a sigh of relief. We reached the bank safely. We thanked god and thanked the boatmen.
Ten years have passed since then but the memory of that boat journey is still fresh in mind. Sometime I remember its sweet moments and sometimes it’s horrible effects.
thnx.
