Global Warming

Global Warming

Global warming was once an uncommon term used by a few scientists who were concerned over the upcoming effects of it. Today, the idea of global warming is well known to almost all, though not well understood. Nowadays, it has become the most complicated issue of the present world. It refers to an unexpected increase in the Earth's climatic temperature over a relatively short period of time. It occurs due to the increase of greenhouse gases in the air which are mainly produced by the burning of fossil fuels and forests. Gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide, methane and water vapor trap the heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, which increases the temperature. This process is widely known as greenhouse effect. It is considered as the main culprit of the global warming. The green house effect can be explained easily. On a very hot day, we see that a car gets hotter when it is out in the parking lot. Because, the heat and light from the sun can get into the car, through the windows, but it can’t get back out. Similarly, the heat and light that get through the atmosphere of the world, does not get out. As a result, the temperature rises. The offspring of this warming is dreadful. The numerous ice caps of the northern hemisphere have started melting. The water level of the sea is rising gradually. As a result of global warming the lower parts of the world will be under a great threat of drowning. According to experts, Vola and some other coastal areas of Bangladesh will be under water within next sixty years. As a victim of global warming, our country has already asked compensation to the industrialized developed countries that are mostly responsible for this.
