The Pied-Piper of Hamelin

A long time ago there was a town named Hamelin in germany. Once upon a time the town faced with a great problem. It became full of rats. The rats were very big in size and fierce in nature.

The rats used to bite the babies on the roads and even in houses. They became a great threat to the people of the town. People were frightened by the frequent attacks of rats. The whole town became the kingdom of rats. In this situation, the mayor of the town called a meeting of the elite persons of the town. They discussed for a long time but there was no result. Nobody could suggest any good solution to the problem. At that time a strange man appeared before the meeting. He wore a long skirted tunic and a large size shabby bag was hanging on his shoulder. There was a strange and large flute in his hand. He declared that, "I can drive all the rats from the town. I will do this gigantic task in exchange of one thousand guilders only’’. The mayor agreed with the demand of the strange man. Then the strange man went out on the road. He started playing his large flute. Hearing the sound of his strange flute thousands of rats came out on the road. The man started walking to a river that was situated at the end of the city. The rats were following him. The people of the town were spell-bound to watch this. However the flute man stopped by the river. But the rats did not stop. They jumped into the current of the river and drowned all.  Thus the strange pied piper freed the people of the town from the irritation of the rates. But the Mayor did not give him the required one thousand guilders. The strange man got furious at this. He then took another peculiar flute. He started to play that. At the very time, thousands of children came out of their houses and started to walk after the man. The city people were hypnotized by him. He went to his own country with all the children.

Thus the strange man took this strange revenge upon the people of the city.
