The Season I Like Most (Rainy Season)

Bangladesh is called the land of six seasons. Nature has adorned this land with unique beauty. To speak the truth, no other land of the world is so blessed with the natural diversities like our country. The continuous cycle of the six seasons has made this country different from others. Each of these seasons comprises two months.

Among the six seasons of our country, I like the rainy season most. It comes after the summer. The Bengali month Ashar and Shrabon are the usual periods of the rainy season. But sometimes the season stays more than these two months. Often rain sets in our country in the middle of June and lasts up to the middle of September.

In our country, the rainy season is caused by monsoon. The south west monsoon that blows over Bangladesh brings many vapors from the Bay of Bengal. As a result, there occurs heavy rainfall during the season. During the season, the sky often remains overcast with thick black clouds. Sometime there are violent wind blow, lighting, flasher and thunder roar.

I like the season because it brings one kind of coolness in our nature especially after the hot summer days. My heart leaps up with joy when the first shower of the rainy season falls on the dry soil! The scorching heat of the summer is no more. The rivers remain full to the brim. It seems to me that the nature gets its lost beauty back in the season.

The rainy season reminds me of my childhood. I have passed this golden period of my life in village. I used to love to play in the rain very much. I used to enjoy rhythmic sounds of falling raindrops. I used to dance on our yard with my cousins and enjoy myself by making paper boats and floating them in water and seeing them sailing down. Sometimes the rain brings hails I also used to enjoy collecting and playing with them.

Still, in the urban life, I enjoy this season. When the raindrops bounce and splash on windows, I sit on a chair at my balcony and gaze at the falling raindrops. They make the ground wet as if they have just taken a bath and the trees look full of life, with shiny green leaves. Really, t is matchless pleasure to me to drink hot coffee in the moment.

The rainy season is the most important and useful season in our country. Agriculture, which is the backbone of our economy, depends on this rainy season. If there is sufficient rain, the farmers can plough their lands and sow seeds in time. It is not possible to reap a good harvest if it does not rain in time. Besides, rain water washes away the filth from our environment and clears the atmosphere.

There is no unmixed good. The rainy seasons have some demerits too. Sometimes it rains heavily for days together. Heavy rainfall causes flood. Flood brings about untold sufferings and miseries. There is water everywhere and roads become muddy. People can not go out due to nonstop rain. Poor people become the worst sufferers. Beside all these, different kinds of diseases like malaria, diarrhea, and dysentery break out in an epidemic from. They take away many lives too.

The seasons of Bangladesh regulate its economy, communication, art and culture and in fact, the entire lifestyle of the people. The rainy season play an important role in the cycle of our individual and national life.
