King Solomon was known worldwide for his extra-ordinary wisdom. He was the famous king of the Jews. He used to give solutions to various sort of problems by the bounty of his unique ready wit.
One day, two women came to the court of King Solomon. Two women came to King Solomon and stood before him. One woman said, "My Lord, this woman and I dwell in the same house. I gave birth to a child a few days ago. On the third day after I gave birth, she also gave birth to a child. The son of this woman died during last night because of her carelessness. She has taken my son from my side while I was asleep, and she laid her dead son in my bosom. When I got up in the morning to nurse my son, behold, he was dead! But when I observed him (later on) in the morning, I realized that he was not my son to whom I had given birth!" The other woman replied: "It is not so! My son is the living one and your son is the dead one!" The first woman responded: "It is not so! Your son is the dead one and my son is the living one!" They argued before King Solomon for a few minutes. King Solomon said: “So both of you are claiming that the child is yours.” King ordered to one of his servants, "Bring a sword!" He brought a sword before the King. The King said to his servant, "Cut the living child in two, and give half to one and half to the other". The Wicked mother said: "Neither mine nor yours shall it be. Cut the baby my Lord!" The woman who was the real mother turned to the King and cried out, "Please my Lord, give her the living child and do not kill it!"
The King could realize that this is the real mother. He gave the baby to its original mother and rebuked and imprisoned the pretending women.
