All That Glitters is Not Gold

Once there was a stag in a forest. He was very proud of his nice horn. Whenever he used to drink water from any watery place, he used to be very much proud seeing the image of his glittering horns on the water.

One day, the stag felt very thirsty. He went near a fountain to drink water. He saw the reflection of his horns on the water and became very charmed. It thought in himself,

“How nice my horns are!”

There was also the reflection of his legs on the water. The stag did not like its legs as his leg was very thin and ugly. So when he saw the image of his legs, he became sad. He spoke to himself,

“I don’t want to see my ugly legs on the water.”

He stepped back so that the legs can not be seen. The stag used to think always that his ugly legs are of no use. Suddenly he saw a hunter coming towards him with his gun. The stag became very much afraid and started running to save his own life. His legs helped him to run fast. But several times his nice horns got stuck with the creepers of the jungle. He became injured too. However, he became able to save himself from the hunter. Finally the stag realized that, he is still alive by the bounty of his ugly legs.

We should remember that, all the things that are good to look at, are not always of use. Rather they might be the cause of danger for us.
