Story of the Farmer and the Golden Goose

Once there was a farmer in a village. He was very poor. He lived from hand to mouth. Often he had to starve with his family. Everyday, after getting up early, he used to pray to God to improve his worse situation.

One day the God took pity on the helpless farmer. The almighty wanted to help the farmer.  Next day, the farmer went to the field at morning like other days. Suddenly he saw a strange goose beside his farm. Being curious, he brought the goose to his home. Next morning, the farmer saw that the goose laid a golden egg. He realized that God has looked up him. The goose used to lay one egg per day. The farmer used to sell them in the market. Within a very short time he became quite solvent. But his wife was very greedy. She wanted to be rich overnight. She used to herself, "Surely there are a lot of golden eggs in the goose's stomach. So why do we get only one egg a day?" She planned in her mind and said to herself, "If we cut the belly of the goose, we will get a lot of eggs and become very rich. She suggested her husband to do so. Firstly the farmer did not agree with his greedy wife. But he was lured by his wife's plan one day. Then the farmer and his wife cut the belley of the strange goose with greed. But alas! There was no egg in its belley. They found nothing rather the goose died. Thus they lost all in the trap of greed.

So, we should not be greedy like this farmer and his wife. We should bear in mind that- "Grasp all, lose all."
